In the reading, I read about how it’s hard for some people to “come out of the closet.” By that I mean coming out and saying that you’re gay or a lesbian. And most people get mocked and laughed at for being that way. Ellen DeGeneres had a show called, Ellen, after she came out, her rating fell. She was made fun of and mocked on all the late night shows and TV parody shows. When the show Friends aired it had two lesbians with a kid. They were mocked on the show, because they both breast feeding the kid and the others just looked at them as they were doing the wrong thing. The ratings stayed good because the two girls were being made fun of in the show, they were seen as doing the wrong thing in their relationship. On another TV show, Will and Grace, it has two guy and girl. Both the guys are gay, but one of them is out of closet gay and like a girl gay. The other one is more of straight gay and his best friend is a straight girl. They both go shopping together and talk about guys. This show showed both types of the homosexuality. I think that now and days, being gay is much of big deal as it was back in the day. I think that more people are open to it and more used it. But there are people and always will be people who don’t accept them as with other issues.

For dinner, Will gets take out and they go over drastic measure to keep the problem a secret. The whole night was a little rocky, but they got away with it, and the judge loved the food, even though it was watered down by Will to get the hot spice out of it. It goes downhill when Carlton comes back in a messed and dirty up clothing to see if everyone was ok. Then he tells them that the kitchen was burned down by Will. Also, the judge thinks that Geoffrey actually cooked that meal in the kitchen. The whole show ends up with Phil not getting that upset. I don’t understand what the author was talking about, most of time. He was just saying Real World’s first season was the best. Then he says Real World 3 is the beat season. The he says I’ve seen all the seasons and all the shows at least three times. He must be a loser if he seen them that many times. He doesn’t talk about how the producers put those seven strangers in that house for a reason. The producers actually hand pick each one, so they can get the conflicts, fights, and arguments that the producers want so they can get higher TV ratings. They always pick a drunk person, a black person, a gay person, and somebody that is wanting to come out and go crazy. On the Real World, the seven strangers get free alcohol from the producers I think, so the seven strangers can get drunk and say something they don’t want to say, like a race comment. The author also went on to say that he wouldn’t want to be on that show because it kind of makes you nobody. People who were on that show and went on to try to become a singer failed, some went bankrupted. Its like all you would be remembered for is being on that show. The only way you could make money is by going on the Real World/Road Rules challenges. I still think that the author was repeating about how Real World’s first season and how its actually the real world and it’s the Real World and it’s the real world and so on.

Today in class we talked about how reality TV shows have influenced real life. How government has influence with TV Dramas and reality shows as well as dating shows. Shows like, Elimidate, the Real World, 5th Wheel, Survivor, and other shows. Most of the time government plays a part in the shows. Telling what and what not they can say on TV. What has to be censored and can be said. But over the years the FCC has more curse words to be said on TV as the years went on. Recently I heard that the FCC wants to try to decrease the rate of violence on TV. The FCC thinks that it screws the minds of children and teaches them bad things, but they a lot of sex on cable. TV has a lot of influence on people but I think that if kids are going to pick up bad words, they would still pick them up when their older, so it doesn’t matter where they get it from. If kids hang out with their friends, they can pick up violence or a bad word from them. What if a friend lets steal this candy bar. Then your kid will do it, and keep on doing it as he gets older and it might turn into more valuable things being stolen. So, TV has lots to do with how we people think everyday of our lives, because we watch so much of it. Its that you can learn anything from anybody.

Doing this paper about ads and advertisers was all right. I choose a “got milk?” ad, a Nyquil ad, a six different time zones watch ad, and Dole products ad. All these ads have something to do with how advertisers get their consumers to buy their products. They show something that the consumer would like, like; a beautiful girl with a beautiful guy. They two people have the best bodies and there like not an average person. Someone who an average or poor person could not be. All the ads that I had, the ones that had a person in it, had a skinny beautiful person. That’s how advertisers sell their products. They show celebrities saying that Burger King makes me bigger or smarter. And then a consumer will go out and buy that product because consumers will love to look like their favorite celebrity. They even have shows, were average people going under the knife to look like their favorite celebrities. Anyway that the advertisers can catch the consumers with their ads. Ads like getting healthier faster or paying one dollar for this car. But they don’t tell you about how you go there or all the secret fine prints. Like when you buy a cell phone from any company. Most of the companies say they will give a free phone if you sign up with them. But that depends on the plan and that you have to have a contract with them that lasts to about a two years.

This week on the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Will and Carlton try to play a joke on their butler Geoffrey. See Will and Carlton can never tick “G” with any kind of joke. SO when they see an opening, they strike at it. They both notice that “G” always plays the lottery, hoping he wins so he can quit his job and gets the hell out here. So, one night Will and Carlton decide to watch a lottery drawing with Geoffrey and when he loses, the boys take the losing receipt, tape the drawing for that night and show it to “G.” He thinks he won, he quits, makes fun of everyone, dissing his former employer and his kids. The Banks fell apart, when they all got to do the chores that “G” usually does and they can’t stand it. When they found out that Will and Carlton were up to, they were forced to go and found Geoffrey or don’t come back! They finally find “G” at a high-class restaurant, they sit there and pretty much beg Geoffrey to come back. “G” doesn’t want to come back because he feels to embarrassed from his incidents before he quit his job. They get him to come back home, which he finally does after lots of begging from Will and Carlton. Friends always play jokes and tricks on their friends, not trying to get them to run away or too mad. I guess some people take jokes too far away and do stupid stuff that can hurt people’s feelings.
